The North American Telugu Society (NATS) is expanding its social service initiatives across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, extending support to persons with disabilities, orphanages and individuals living with spinal cord injuries.
As part of its ongoing initiatives, NATS Chairman Kishore Kancherla, President Raj Allada and New Jersey Chapter Coordinator Sai Gangula visited the Hridayalayam Special School and Rehabilitation Centre in Nidadavole on September 20.
During the visit, they inaugurated a Vocational Training Centre established on the first floor of the centre's new building.
The new building was constructed under the aegis of Hope 4 Spandana with support from NRIs and was inaugurated on August 27, 2026. NATS provided $10,000 in financial assistance towards the construction of the building.
Kishore Kancherla and Raj Allada interacted with the children with intellectual disabilities and reviewed the rehabilitation services being provided at the centre, including bridge courses and physiotherapy. They also distributed sweets to the children and enquired about the facilities and services available at the centre.
NATS representatives emphasized the need to expand such services to persons with disabilities living in remote and tribal areas as well.
As part of its efforts to promote self-employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, NATS provided financial assistance of Rs. 1.30 lakh each for two grocery stores allocated to Gopi in Thorredu village and Devadasu Chinababu in Venkatanagar. The two stores were inaugurated by Kishore Kancherla, Raj Allada and Sai Gangula.
NATS is also supporting Hope 4 Spandana's monthly distribution of medical kits to people with spinal cord injuries who are confined to beds or wheelchairs. During an event in Hyderabad, Raj Allada reviewed the medical kits being distributed to beneficiaries.
The kits contain 13 essential items, including urinary bags, diapers, catheters, cotton rolls, Betadine, Dettol and gloves.
NATS is also extending financial support towards the establishment of permanent residential facilities at Ashraya Orphanage in Anantapur and Matrudevobhava Orphanage in Nadergul, Hyderabad.
These service initiatives are being coordinated by Dr. Raghu Arikapudi, Andhra-Telangana Coordinator of Hope 4 Spandana.
The social service activities held in and around Nidadavole and Rajahmundry were attended by Hridayalayam founder Dr. Ganesh Babu, organizer Dr. Balagam Visalakshmi, Dayyala Mahesh and others.
NATS leadership expressed special gratitude to the NRIs who have been extending their support to these service initiatives.
