7 Killed, 5 Injured in Bus-Truck Collision in Assam; Pothole Suspected in Fatal Crash
At least seven people were killed and five others injured after a passenger bus collided head-on with a goods truck on National Highway-27 near Sonapur in Assam’s Kamrup Metropolitan district. Police said the bus was travelling from Nagaon towards Guwahati when it lost control and crossed the divider before hitting the truck. A large pothole on the highway is being examined as a possible factor in the crash. The Assam government has announced compensation of ₹5 lakh for each victim’s family, while NHAI has been directed to repair potholes on the affected stretch within seven days.

A 10-year-old girl from a government school in East Delhi’s Vinod Nagar has died after falling ill following an incident in which her family alleges she was punished for forgetting to bring a book. The family claims the girl was made to stand with her hand raised and was later found unconscious. They also alleged that she was locked inside the classroom after other students and the teacher left. However, doctors at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) said the child had been undergoing treatment for subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), a rare and severe neurological disorder. The Delhi government has ordered an impartial inquiry, while the concerned teacher has been transferred pending the investigation.
Over 100-Year-Old Hindu Temple in Pakistan’s Punjab Sparks Controversy Over Demolition Claims
A Hindu temple believed to be 100–125 years old in Siraj village of Pakistan’s Narowal district has become the centre of controversy after its structure was reportedly demolished on August 21. Anna Hazare Hospitalised in Mumbai ICU With Acute Dehydration, Kidney Issues
Veteran social activist Anna Hazare was hospitalised in Mumbai on Monday after developing a viral infection, acute dehydration and kidney-related complications. He was admitted to the ICU at Bombay Hospital and is under the care of Dr Gautam Bhansali. Hazare was brought to the hospital in a cardiac ambulance along with caretakers from his village. Doctors are conducting tests and will decide his further treatment based on the results.
