Honda and Nissan have signed a joint development agreement to standardise key electronic control units and software for their next-generation software-defined vehicles. The agreement covers core electronic control units, the in-vehicle operating system, key middleware and vehicle-control software. The jointly developed electrical and electronic architecture is planned for use in both companies’ next-generation vehicles from fiscal 2029 onward. The partnership is aimed at reducing development costs, improving efficiency and speeding up innovation as software becomes increasingly important to modern vehicles.

The facility is expected to be available in 2028 and will use renewable energy, advanced cooling technologies and high-performance computing systems. The 100 MW project will form part of the 360 MW first phase of DataVolt’s planned AI data centre campus, which is ultimately envisioned to reach 1.5 gigawatts.
