A miraculous rescue has emerged from Nepal after a 60-year-old woman survived for 10 days trapped under mud and debris following devastating flash floods. The woman, identified as Chandika Shrestha, was trapped on the top floor of a four-storey house in Bidur town, Nuwakot district.
Rescuers battled through thick mud and sludge to reach her. After days of searching, they finally spotted Shrestha and pulled her out through a window on the top floor.She was found unconscious, but moments after being rescued, she slowly regained consciousness as rescuers wrapped her in a blanket and jacket.
A nine-member Armed Police Force team carried out the dramatic rescue. Shrestha was then airlifted by helicopter to the Nepali Army’s Maithili Barracks in Trishuli for initial treatment.
