Nearly 1 Million Indians Stuck in US Green Card Queue, Wait Could Reach 179 Years

Nearly one million Indians are waiting for US employment-based green cards, accounting for about 79% of the estimated 1.26 million people in the EB-1, EB-2 and EB-3 backlog. According to a National Foundation for American Policy analysis, an Indian professional entering the queue in 2026 could potentially face a 179-year wait in EB-2 and 38 years in EB-3 under current conditions.
