Fans of Silambarasan TR may have to wait a little longer for Arasan, his upcoming action drama directed by Vetrimaaran. The film, which was initially expected to arrive in theatres in 2026, is now reportedly eyeing a 2027 release.
The film is set within the cinematic universe of Dhanush-starrer Vada Chennai and is being positioned as a spin-off connected to the world created by Vetrimaaran.
Vetrimaaran Taking Time to Perfect the Film
According to the latest reports, Vetrimaaran is taking additional time to refine the project and ensure the final output meets his expectations. This could result in the film being pushed from its previously anticipated release window to 2027.
Vijay Sethupathi in a Key Role
The movie features Vijay Sethupathi in a pivotal role alongside Silambarasan. Recent reports have also clarified that Sethupathi remains part of the project, despite earlier speculation about his exit.
The cast also includes actors such as Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani and Kishore, while Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music.
Part of the ‘Vada Chennai’ Universe
Arasan is expected to expand the gangster world introduced in Vada Chennai. The combination of Silambarasan, Vetrimaaran, Vijay Sethupathi and Anirudh has generated significant expectations among Tamil cinema audiences.
Release Date Yet to Be Confirmed
Although reports suggest a 2027 theatrical release, the makers have not officially announced a final release date. Fans will have to wait for an official update regarding the film’s schedule.
