Director Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious mythological film 'Ramayana', starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, has drawn attention even before its release due to a fresh controversy.
The Shri Ramlila Mahasangh, an organization associated with promoting the traditions of Ramlila performances, has asked the filmmakers to arrange a special screening for its representatives before the movie reaches theaters. The group says it wants to ensure that the film accurately portrays the events, characters, and values of Valmiki's Ramayana while respecting Hindu traditions and religious sentiments.
According to the organization, if any scenes or dialogues are found to be inconsistent with the epic or offensive to religious beliefs, they should be reviewed before the film's release. It has also warned that if its request is ignored, it may organize protests across the country.
As of now, the filmmakers have not issued an official response to the demand. Neither the production team nor the cast has commented publicly on the matter.
