Telugu Association of Central Ohio (TACO-OH)

Telugu Association of Central Ohio (TACO) is a non-profit organization with a goal to maintain and perpetuate Telugu Samskriti (Culture), Sahityam (Literature), and Sampradayam (Tradition). TACO was formally registered in 1983 as a non-profit organization with Tax Id #31-1695812. TACO is one of the oldest Telugu Associations in Central Ohio. It caters to the cultural, social and literary needs of the Telugu people migrated from India as well as their children raised here in USA. TACO celebrates all the major annual Telugu festivals such as Sankranti, Ugadi and Deepavali. It strongly encourages participation by members as well as all the interested individuals and families living in the area. Other social events include annual picnic during summer, organizing special cultural events and music concerts by visiting artists from India. TACO publishes annual magazine, PRAGATI which is distributed to its members in one of the events. TACO Executive Committee members are elected every year. TACO executive committee members conduct day-to-day operations of the organization.

TACO is one of the oldest Telugu Associations in Central Ohio. It caters to the cultural, social and literary needs of the Telugu people migrated from India as well as their children raised here in USA and also to foster friendship and understanding between the Telugu speaking people and other regional communities and to support humanitarian causes. TACO organizes three main annual events: Sankranthi (Pongal), Ugadi (Telugu New Year), and Deepavali (Diwali, Festival of Lights). In addition, we also organizes a picnic during summer, sports events and various other programs as and when required to promote our culture and Telugu language(Aksharamala).

Bring together the Telugu community living in Central Ohio. Perpetuate Telugu culture, literature, traditions, and values; integrating them into modern life. Organize and promote literary, cultural, educational, social, and community activities of the Telugu people living in Central Ohio. Solicit, raise, and disburse funds for charitable, cultural, religious and educational activities directly or in cooperation with other non-profit organizations. Promote the understanding of Telugu literature, art, culture, music, dance, and drama among the children of Telugu speaking people in Central Ohio and their friends. Carry literary, cultural, and educational activities in compliance with Sec. 501(C)(3) of the 1954 Internal Revenue Code and it’s ammendments, established for non-profit organizations.
